DJ M•ROK
DJ MROK is a hip hop producer and scratch DJ with a passion for golden era boom bap, samples and breakbeats.
Inspired heavily by the east coast hip hop he heard “back in the day,” MROK got his start producing, scratching an emceeing during the late ‘80s. As a fan of Emerson College’s WERS 88.9FM, he went on to create Boston University’s first-ever hip hop radio show in 1991.
Fast forward to 2018. After stumbling across a track on one of the Return of the DJ compilations, MROK returned to the scene and released a series of hip hop beat tapes and solo projects — one of which was featured as a “Hidden Gem” by Fat Cat Beats. In addition, MROK created and hosted “Beat Vandals” — a show featuring scratch music exclusively — on UK’s Graffiti Kings Radio. 43K listeners tuned in worldwide on the first episode alone.
Since then, MROK was selected as Untapped Hip Hop Magazine’s featured artist in Fall 2019, created an official remix for LEGO Ninjago, signed to SpitSLAM, was featured in the latest issue of B-Boy Document, and is the house DJ for “It’s C-Doc Again” on YouTube’s Channel Zero.
MROK’s work includes original productions with Kool G Rap and El Da Sensei, official remixes with Stetsasonic, Professor Daddy-O, Large Professor, Andy Cooper, and several cuts with artists that include Chill Rob G and Sadat X.
