Fivewards is a six-song meditation on growing up, letting go, and learning to be where you are.

Across warm, moody, and sometimes beautifully strange production, DAVEPSY reckons with the questions that come with adulthood: Have I done enough? Am I making the right choices? What happens to the dreams we once imagined for ourselves? And, perhaps most importantly, can we learn to be content with the life we’re actually living?

Built from songs written across different periods, Fivewards brings together producers connected to places DAVEPSY has called home, including St. Louis and Toronto, alongside musical connections stretching from Portland to Florida. The result is a project that feels both rooted and expansive—five songs wrapped in a Foreword, with each chapter finding its own way into the larger picture.

Featuring production from Elusive, Snywhip, Kount, DJ Trog, Sovren, and Rugawd, with a guest appearance from longtime collaborator Roshin, Fivewards moves through themes of ambition, time, risk, faith, changing dreams, missed opportunities, and the narrowing paths that come with every decision we make. DAVEPSY asks plenty of questions but offers no sermons. The record is less interested in telling you how to live than in sitting with the contradictions of trying to do so.

Sonically, this is a quieter, more introspective side of DAVEPSY—a deliberate dip into the lower range after the more upbeat Here’s the Thing. The beats are warm and patient, the writing is reflective without losing its wit, and the sequencing follows an instinctive flow that makes the six tracks feel like pieces of the same book.

Maybe this is what grownup rap sounds like.
